When I was twenty, I dated a man seven years older than me. He was a PhD student and I was in the second year of my undergrad. He was tall, bright and handsome, and he came from a wealthy and successful family to boot. I was immediately drawn to him for his looks, intelligence, and confidence. For the most part, I was oblivious to his age. For the most part.
But I wasn’t the only one dating an older guy. After taking a class with a youthful professor, a friend of mine started going out with him even though she was still an undergraduate and it was surely against the rules. Girls I knew were hooking up with TAs and profs, and at the bar I worked, men old enough to be my father constantly hit on me.
